Graduation

Well, the formalities are over! Neither Laws nor Lyd could make it in the end, but Dad, Ann, Nan, Pa, Craig and Ben were all there to see the ceremony on Friday at Flemmington Racecourse. The sun came out this afternoon which made for a wonderful day.
Dad and Ann gave me a gorgeous string of pearls that they'd picked up on their recent Island cruise. The DVD of the ceremony is another month away but the photos are on the way, will add them here soon. Of the 30 or 40 of us that started a group of only a dozen graduated today which was nice, a small group that have finished together. 8 of us had a group photo taken, so looking forward to getting a copy of that sometime over the next couple of weeks. The Mortar Board was heavy and by the end of the ceremony the gown was hot!!! Can't believe that it's all over already, but was a great day. Ben and I then went out for drinks in the city with Julia, who has just got back from the States, Hayley (who we studied with but didn't graduate today), and Jacob, who was already very drunk when we found him!

Last shift at Banquets :(

So Saturday night will be my last shift at Banquets for Crown working on the floor :( Much to my delight I discovered tonight that it is an Essendon function so fingers crossed I will be working on that one! :) Unfortunately we can't talk to them or ask for autographs etc :(, but will still be a pretty good function to finish off my 12 week stint :).

Going shopping tomorrow! Can't wait to get some new work shirts for next week, don't think it's really sunk in yet...

After a nasty run in with the fist of a drunken random last Saturday night, Ben's "puffa fish" lip is finally going down but the bruises on his face are coming out... will make for some interesting photos on Friday at graduation. What was even funnier was that he transferred his license yesterday and VicRoads took his photo. The apt for the transfer was made over a month ago... talk about timing!!!?! Hopefully the dissolvable stitches will be gone early next week, at this stage he'll be back at work on Saturday, now that he's gotten rid of his lisp and "just been to the dentist" look on his face!

Going out for dinner Thursday night with Ben's Dad before he goes away, although as yet no one can decide where... can all agree on places NOT to go, but aside from that.

Also stuck for inspiration on what to do Friday after graduation seeing as that we both have the whole day off work and most of Saturday too... sure something will sort itself out on the night.

Till next time... this lazy blogger is off to bed... it's 3am!!!!! (The joys of working hospitality which will soon be a thing of the past....)

Big changes ahead

Well, where to start... Graduation is less than two weeks away, cant wait to finally get my hands on that piece of paper with MY name on it. Then the following week I start my NEW job with Crown in the Events Management Office.

The excitement hasn't quite worn off yet, but the "possibly in over my head" notion has kicked in and is taking the shine off it just a little! New uniform, car space, desk, locker, full time job and a salary... pretty exciting... slightly terrifying, just one thing remains, time... only time will tell, fingers crossed it will all pay off.

Working at Banquets has been heaps of fun, but the hours a little ridiculous. The staff, and even the managers are great to work with, and for the most part the guests are pretty good too. There are always stories to tell and plenty of gossip, cross paths with famous faces almost every day. Will miss a lot of that with the new job, but at least I know I will be home before the sun comes up!

Hoping all is well with everyone else. Happy travels!

Mothers Day

After working till the early hours this morning and scraping together a few hours sleep, it was off to Ashcombe Maze for Mothers Day with the extended family. All 12 of us headed down and wandered the mazes, lavender labrinth and colourful gardens looking for gnomes, fairies, mushrooms and toadstools along the way. With 4 cameras between us there were a few hundred photos taken... We had lunch and some more time getting lost in the big hedge maze before heading home for Chicken Kievs and Brandy Snaps with cream and Raspberries! MMMMMMMMM :) Realy tired now but it was worth the 3 hour round trip!
